In 1998 when Get Smart was first established clipping products were a very small element of the mail order companies’ large range of products. They only offered a limited range and had little product knowledge to help their customers make an informed choice.

Get Smart saw this as an opportunity to provide the specialist knowledge that was missing. We were aware that clippers are generally used infrequently, have a relatively high price tag and when the time comes for their use it is essential they perform with the minimum of fuss.

By pooling our teams own personal experience and putting any new equipment coming onto the market to the test, we were confident Get Smart could fulfil this gap.

Our success today follows the same founding philosophy which informed Get Smart’s first, comprehensive, full colour catalogue over a decade ago i.e.

•    Only stock quality clipping products which can be supported after sale.
•    Commit to having clipping products available for shipping the same day whenever possible.
•    Offer expert, impartial advice.
•    Offer permanently low prices.
 

However, with the explosion of the internet and price competition Get Smart needed to evolve. Our customers now chose to use the internet as their first choice buying channel and our printed catalogue became no longer viable to distribute.
